The start of a new week means a fresh, happy and brand new day to start your new diet. Monday is the most popular day to begin a brand new diet.
Temporal Landmarks
Jason Riis, a professor at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania has said in his report that certain days of the week are called “Temporal Landmarks”, days where your body feels fresh and active and with an overall more positive attitude towards your day. Monday happens to be a temporal landmark, said to be the best and most popular day to start a new diet and focus on eating healthy, working out, maintaining your health both physically and mentally. Hengchen Dai, a co-author of the paper and doctoral student at Penn has stated that people wake up and say “I am going to be a new person and I am no longer going to be a part of the path of failure.”
He also stated that its a “change of path” and a reflection of self to better one’s overall life. Using Google analytics to determine when people searched for diets and workout guides online, each step was carefully taken to determine when people would decide to begin improving their general health and pick up new diets. Monday remains the most popular day, especially with a new year, making it the best day to start a new way of life and to maintain a healthy one. “Monday is going to be a fresh start,” Dai said. Ann Kearney-Cooke, the psychologist at the Cincinnati Psychotherapy Institute. She has also stated that breakfast is key to change, starting a new day fresh and well fed to motivate yourself to be healthier.
Birthdays
There is no bad day to start a diet or decide to begin improving your physical and mental health. Researchers have discovered that most people make promises and decide to begin living and healthier and more natural life around birthdays as they awaken to sudden realizations and choose to begin improving. Several events trigger awakenings in people like a new year or a birthday, motivating them to begin a more refreshed and healthier approach to their everyday food, activities, and attitude.
