Several studies and research have concluded that fasting could prevent aging and assist in curing diseases of many sorts. A researcher has revealed the fasting-mimicking diet which could provide all the benefits of fasting while only eating a very limited amount every couple of months.
Fasting
While eating healthy meals and exercising on a regular basis are the best way to maintain your body and reduce the risk of disease and sickness, Valter Longo, director of the Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California says that he believes that humans can live to be past 100 years old without crippling diseases with proper fasting. Proper and researched evidence suggests that organized fasting could potentially increase one’s lifespan and significantly reduce the risk of disease and illness.
Valter Longo designed the fasting-mimicking diet which he says could provide all the benefits and boosts of fasting while still allowing you to eat on a regular basis. The diet has been explained by Longo in which he says that it could provide all the benefits of fasting while only cutting back on eating food for five days at a time.
The Diet
The fast-mimicking diet permits its users to eat normally for 25 days with the last 5 days of each month consisting of a strict fasting regime. Only a specific set of nutrients is allowed during those 5 days with a maximum of 1,100 calories in food on the first day and 800 calories for the final four days. Tests and results have shown that the diet can aid in weight-loss, reduced risk of diseases and illnesses as well as longer life and sickness prevention. Studies have also shown that a certain effect is triggered when calory-intake is reduced or restrained which promotes physical changes associated with anti-aging.
