Experts state that the quick and new trend of “water-dieting” is extremely dangerous and considered the most harmful diet of all time.
The Diet
Water dieting has quickly become popular through social media, a diet encouraging nothing but drinking water, tea and coffee and prohibits anything else. Experts like Joanne Labiner have stated that individuals engaging in the new and deadly diet are basically starving their bodies and enter an anorexic-like state as they deny their bodies the proper requirements of food.
Entering the water-diet has countless risks, most notably organ failure and a risk of heart damage and attack. She also states that the body “feeds” on itself the longer the diet goes on and continue to warn against its dangers.
The Other Side
As experts continue to warn against the dangers of water-fasting, users from around the world have gone to social media to show off their results as some disagree with scientists, claiming that water-fasting helps keep them refreshed, repairs and smoothens skin and more.
The main issue is that there seems to be no balance between food and liquids. The Water diet bans any form of sustenance except for tea, coffee and water, claiming it cleanses and helps rejuvenate the body against toxins and other issues. Although health experts claim the diet is incredibly dangerous and could result in heart failure without warning as well as resulting in a form of anorexia or even complete organ failure, many continue to try water fasting.
Eating disorder spokeswoman Mia Findlay warns gravely against the diet, stating that “There are a lot of people who do reviews on these so-called diets, and they say they felt so clear-headed, and they felt like they were reaching this state of nirvana, and the reason that is happening is because their bodies are going into starvation mode.”
